Track and Field: Eastern Shore Combined Events Meet

Comments
The Salisbury University track and field program traveled 15 miles down the road to University of Maryland Eastern Shore this past weekend to compete in the two day Eastern Shore Combined Events Meet. The team saw great performances from all its athletes while also having three school records go down. Kyleigh Dumas, Alex Hardman, and the 4x200-meter relay consisting of Hardman, Mickey Van Gieson, Jack McCloskey, and Ethan Binnix all found their ways into the record books. Dumas posted a new height of eleven feet eight inches in the pole vault breaking her own previous mark of eleven feet seven and three quarter inches, which she set earlier this season. The height was also good enough to capture the win in the event. The 4x200-meter relay team concluded Friday afternoon s event with a second-place finish and a new school record in the process coming home in a time of 1:31.73. The new time broke the record previously set by themselves last season when they posted a time of 1:32.79. Hardman would conclude the record breaking weekend when he captured a first-place finish in the 500-meter run while also setting a new school record. Hardman crossed the finish line in a mark of 1:06.64 breaking the previous time set by Cory Beebe and current teammate Ethan Binnix of 1:06.96. Jamie Farley also turned in a solid weekend earning a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash coming home in fifty-nine seconds flat. She also aided the 4x200-meter relay team in capturing a third-place finish with a time of 1:48.14. Her performance helped earn her, her second CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors of the season. Salisbury returns to action on Friday, February 15 when it travels to Christopher Newport University to compete in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
